I have known my father-in-law, Rodrigo Ortega, since 1999, in 2001 I attended one of his exhibitions and it was in that place, where I began to appreciate the color of his works and the dedication that he puts into each of his works. works, which from that year began to enrich and decorate the spaces of my company SYNERJOY BPO. Today it is the place where more than 700 young people who work in our street centers live together and enjoy this colorful and pictorial energy every day that keeps us enthusiastic and proactive.

Painter, with more than 50 years of experience in the art world, noted for seeking the meaning of life in each of his works, which have been exhibited in the main cities of Colombia.

He was born on December 17, 1944 in the city of Cali, Valle del Cauca. Since he was a child, he fell madly in love with art thanks to his mother who managed to awaken this feeling in him, since then, the artist transmits his dreams and emotions in each stroke of his works.

In his career as an artist he has participated in two workshops, but emphasizes that he prefers to savor his own art in solitude, which differentiates him from others.

In his search for the meaning of life through his art, he has managed to capture an explosion of colors that has given originality to his technique, where he seeks that the viewer does not try to interpret his work, but manages to observe and savor art .

Career

Rodrigo Ortega is, above all, a colourist. This means that in his painting this factor prevails over all other aspects of composition, to the point that he has introduced up to twenty-seven different colors on a canvas. It does not work with a preset pattern; he sketches and frenziedly undertakes the creative process, impregnating the work with a fantastic color in which the magic of the tones fascinates the viewer’s senses.

“His works give life to the spirit,” says Stella Fallabela, an Argentine art critic who has lived in Germany for more than fifteen years.

“The painters who surprise us with their visual music are really the great painters,” says Hündertwaser, from Vienna, Austria, stressing: “We must be creative; art is continually changing. Style doesn’t mean anything; it is just an empty tool to express oneself ”and he sentences:“ The true artist has no style ”.

No one more indicated than Rodrigo Ortega himself to guide us about his work and the concept that governs it:

“The painter must appropriate the reality of the society in which he lives and works, and in this aspect the source of his artistic creation is rich and varied. Today’s painter is the product of a consumer society and in it he must develop his artistic work. Being an artist is a vocation, and in my production the subject is subject to color. With color I give more life to life ”.

“The harmony in the composition, the balance of the elements both in the abstract and in the figurative of my work and the color – always the color – flatter the eye in the presence of a very particular aesthetic creation, product of my dreams and my fantasies. I try to flood my painting with joy and visual music ”.

From June 30, 1999 to July 30, 1999, the Colombian Colombian Alliance of Cali held an exhibition of paintings in Oil on Canvas Technique by the artist Rodrigo Ortega.

On June 21, 2001, the Centro Cultural Colombo Americano de Cali held an exhibition of the artist Rodrigo Ortega’s paintings.

Rodrigo Ortega and his mutant color

“Existence is color. You just have to keep your eyes open to see it step by step, second by second. And as such, existence is life, but also the opposite, its total absence. In other words, animation and stillness. Movement and statism. Full and empty. Order and chaos. Norm and anarchy. An infinite succession of oppositions that fortunately also make consciousness possible. The only thing that should really characterize our species.

In any case, however, we are matter and energy: the same essence. And Rodrigo Ortega’s pictorial proposal deals with its transmigration in lines and forms orchestrated in a key of light. A panorama of chromatic irradiations that range from the unfathomable mimicry of the microcosm, through a festive unfolding of the tangible spectrum, to the unlimited dimensions of the palettes and phosphorescences of the macrocosm.

Thus, eternity and infinity are conjugated at random in the attempt, conscious or not, that the artist makes to fix them indelibly on the surfaces of his multiform and unpredictable art, always oblivious to the invading echoes, but very captivated by the spontaneity that a sometimes innocent freshness ”.
